Just about every stage of the food and beverage process – from preparation and application or removal of heat to post processing and packaging – can be optimized with new sealing technologies.
When you’re under pressure to increase production, reduce costs or comply with health and safety regulations, GBSA can help to address your challenge by optimizing parts and the way they integrate with one another.
Our engineers are ready to design your FDA compliant custom rubber products from provided drawings, or they can reverse engineer from a sample part.
Food & Beverage Applications Using GBSA Products
GBSA works with FDA compliant materials in all food and beverage applications, such as:
- Small appliances (e.g. blenders and coffee makers)
- Water filtration
- Wash down
- Packaging
Recommended FDA Custom Rubber Parts
- Food grade gaskets
- Food grade washers
- Food grade seals
- Food safe O-Rings
- Food safe rubber encased seals
- Rubber to metal bonded seals, flingers, washers and various other components
FDA Approved Rubber Materials
All GBSA seals produced for the food and beverage industry are made of rubber polymers that are odorless, tasteless and flexible. Additional features include:
- resistance to bacteria
- resistance to a large range of temperatures
- resistance to chemical properties
Available rubber polymers are listed below.
FDA Silicone Rubber
FDA silicone is typically red, white, gray or translucent in color and can provide reliable service at temperatures ranging from -67°F to 450°F.
FDA Nitrile Rubber
FDA nitrile is typically black or white in color and can provide reliable service at temperatures ranging from -40°F to 212°F. Nitrile rubber is ideal for applications that need to be sturdy enough to handle suction and discharge of food products, or for applications that need to resist animal fats and vegetable oils.
FDA EPDM Rubber
FDA EPDM is black in color and can provide reliable service at temperatures ranging from -40°F to 250°F. EPDM rubber is ideal for applications that demand flexibility or involve transfer of oily substances.
FDA Neoprene® Rubber
FDA Neoprene® is off-white in color and can provide reliable service at temperatures ranging from -30°F to 220°F. FDA Neoprene® is ideal for applications that demand oil resistance.
Food Grade Gasket Materials
With FDA-approved ingredients, the following food grade gasket materials are non-toxic, non-marking and non-allergenic. Intended for repeated food exposure, these materials exhibit good abrasion resistance and handling of oil and grease.
These materials can be used in all areas of food processing and are approved by USDA meat and poultry processing.
